The icon is decorated in accordance with Orthodox canons, in the best traditions of ancient icon painting. The icon of the Kazan Mother of God is considered one of the most revered in the Orthodox world. They pray before the icon for the welfare of the family and salvation. The icon of the Kazan Mother of God blesses the future married couple to the crown. The Most Holy Theotokos has long been glorified in Russia in numerous miraculous images. But none of the icons has as many lists as the Kazan icon. She is most often looked at in troubles and illnesses, and many temples have been erected in honor of this icon throughout Russia. The Kazan icon of the Mother of God appeared in the city of Kazan 25 years after the conquest of the Kazan Khanate by Tsar John the Terrible. It was difficult to preach the faith among Muslims and pagans. The Most Holy Theotokos was not slow to send Heavenly help to the preachers, revealing Her miraculous icon. On June 28, 1579, a terrible fire destroyed part of the city and reduced half of the Kazan Kremlin to ashes. As a result, the icon was found, and Archbishop Jeremiah arrived at the place of the miraculous finding and transferred the image to the nearest temple, from where, after the prayer service, the icon with the Procession was transferred to the Annunciation Cathedral. For several decades, Russian missionary explorers traveled many thousands of kilometers to the east and in 1639 set sail for the first time.
