The model is based on a bas–relief image of a hockey player with a stick, ready to attack or throw the puck into the opponent's goal.
The light blue enamel, reminiscent of the sheen of the ice rink, creates the illusion of a hockey field. And on this field, a hockey player rushes forward, cutting through the air.
E.A.Yanson-Manizer was exceptionally accurate in conveying the athlete's impetuous movement, his irresistible will to win and inner determination to succeed.
The miniature bas-relief adorning the cufflink perfectly reflects the dynamics of the hockey game, which is what the sculptor wanted to demonstrate.
This bas-relief was made in faience after the Great Patriotic War, already in 1953, and the famous Soviet hockey player Anatoly Egorov posed for it.
